Customized Pedagogical AI agents in Language Learning: Potentials and challenges
In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has played an increasingly vital role in language education. The introduction of generative AI (GenAI) models—such as ChatGPT in November 2022 and Midjourney in July 2022—has reignited discussions around their educational applications and limitations. GenAI presents vast potential to transform teaching and learning practices. This presentation will begin with a concise overview of GenAI technologies, followed by an analysis of the key challenges currently confronting both educators and learners. It will then present a GenAI-driven solution, illustrated through practical examples. The session will conclude by introducing an innovative pedagogical framework, offering insights into future directions for integrating GenAI into language education.
