Global Foreign Language Education Program, Providence University (PUGFLEP)

Approved by the Ministry of Education, Providence University established the "Global Foreign Language Education  Program" starting from the 104th academic year. This elite program, with a cohort size of just 40 students, is designed to cultivate highly skilled professionals in the fields of foreign language education, international trade, diplomacy, foreign language tour guiding, and Chinese language teaching, with a focus on international perspectives and proficiency in foreign languages.

 

Program Features:

 

1. This degree program aims to develop management professionals in the fields of foreign languages and cultural education. Students are required to take core courses in English and digital teaching, while also having the option to select elective courses in education, business, and a second foreign language.

 

2. The program emphasizes the development of multimedia and information software application skills necessary for the future AI-driven educational landscape. Students are trained to design and market innovative online and classroom-based teaching methods.

 

3. The program enhances students' international outlook by integrating United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the curriculum and offering opportunities for cross-cultural collaborative learning. It aims to foster students independent thinking, critical reasoning, and teamwork skills for problem-solving.

 

4. The program places a strong emphasis on course selection, study abroad opportunities, and career counseling. Before graduation, students are required to either participate in a one-semester exchange program abroad, intern for one semester at domestic or international companies or cultural institutions, or pursue an international dual degree.

 

5. Upon graduation, students are well-equipped to pursue entrepreneurial ventures or careers in multinational corporations, primary and secondary schools, (online) cultural and educational enterprises, international Chinese language education, and tourism, including roles as foreign language tour leaders or guides. The program offers a wide range of career opportunities.
