University of California, Berkeley
Professor Kern teaches courses in French linguistics, applied linguistics and foreign language pedagogy. He served from 2006-2022 as Director of the Berkeley Language Center, and his research interests include second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, reading, writing, and technology. He is currently beginning work on a book dealing with UC students’ experiences during study abroad.

University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Shannon Sauro, Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics, specializes in technology-mediated language teaching and second language literacy. She has taught in Japan, the U.S., and Sweden, researching fan practices and virtual exchange in language learning. Sauro has published widely and edited several key books in the field. She is involved in European-funded projects and has held leadership roles in CALICO and UNICollaboration.

Thomas Robb, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus at Kyoto Sangyo University, where he chaired the Department of English until 2017. A pioneer in CALL and Internet-based learning, he created mreader.org, used by 40,000 students worldwide. Robb has held leadership roles in JALT, International TESOL, and PacCALL, and is editor-in-chief of TESL-EJ. He received a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Computer Assisted Language Learning Journal.
